Hello!

Welcome, sweet mama, to my online home where I invite you to view the stories of laboring mothers. My hope is that you will find these stories inspiring, and that you will walk away empowered, knowing that birth is not an experience to fear, but one to be enjoyed and remembered.

I walked through the front door just like I had so many times before, but this time it was different. I knew what was waiting for me. Sarah had asked me to stop by on my way to work so she could show me something and sure enough it was positive pregnancy test. We stood in her kitchen and cried because after months and months of praying the Lord had answered "Yes" in the form of 2 bright pink lines. Oh friends, we serve a faithful and trustworthy God!

Fast forward 8 months (give or take!) and I walked through that same front door followed by Tyson & Sarah. I was stopping by to say hey and they were returning from a date night out, and as we walked inside Sarah began telling Rachel (her sister) and I about how she had been having contractions every 6-10 minutes consistently for the past several hours. After talking with her doctor, they decided to go ahead and go into the hospital that night so Rachel took their two girls with her, they packed their bags, and we all made our way to the hospital to settle in for the night.

Around 2:30am they came in to check her progress and she was at 6cm with contractions coming every 2-3 minutes and increasing in intensity. I have to say that we were all pleasantly surprised by this as Sarah is the most quiet and calm laboring mother I've ever seen! Even after entering into active labor and then going through transition to prepare for delivery, she stayed calm, kept her breathing up, and let her body do all the work. At 4:15am the anesthesiologist came in to administer her epidural and at 5:35am Elsie Kate was born. Looking back now, it all seems so surreal because of how quickly everything transpired in that last hour. I remember Ellen, Sarah's mom, and I standing in the hallway talking about the day Sarah was born while they administered her epidural and not even 5 minutes after we came back in the room, we were by her bedside cheering Sarah on as she pushed her baby girl earthside. The moment she came out and we heard her first cry, we all stood speechless with tears in our eyes because she was finally here!

Sarah, you were incredible! Your patience, gentleness, and resilience are inspiring, and I am so happy to be able to share these images with you and Tyson. Thank you for allowing me to be there and to document this incredible night!
